602 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources his plans to make funding available in 2004 for a project (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1634/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy will be aware, my Department supported the South East Regional Authority in the formulation of an information society strategy for the region — SEISS project — over the period 2000-01. A key aspect of the published strategy was the development of open access broadband infrastructure in the region. My Department is working with the South East Regional Authority in the implementation of such infrastructure provision — SERPANT project. Departmental funding has been prioritised accordingly and as such I have no plans to make funding available in 2004 for the SEISS project.
