617 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if a survey of staff in his Department has been conducted to ascertain the number willing to take part in the Government decentralisation plans; if he will detail the results of any such survey and the number of staff who wish to decentralise; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A preliminary survey of staff preferences regarding decentralisation has been conducted to establish the initial levels of interest across the Department in relocating to Cavan or to any of the new locations under the decentralisation programme. This was very much an initial information gathering exercise. It was stressed to staff that this was a preliminary non-binding survey and that any preferences at this stage were non-binding. As of 26 January 2004, 424 staff responded with the results as follows:
