283 Mr. Blaney asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) will be considered as a new entrant in relation to the changes in teacher pensions announced in the budget for 2004, therefore affected by the new measures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3170/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy may be aware, I intend to introduce legislation in the House shortly to give effect to the public service pension reforms announced in budget 2004. This legislation is being drafted by the parliamentary counsel. It would not be appropriate, at this time, to comment on individual cases which may or may not fall within the ambit of the legislation. I can assure the Deputy, however, that a fair and equitable definition of "new entrant" will be used in implementing the new pension arrangements.
