127 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if arrangements can be made to demonstrate the working of the electronic voting system to the general public; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3437/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraYesterday I launched a major education and awareness campaign on the use of electronic voting and counting at the forthcoming European and local elections. The campaign will include television, radio and press advertising; the development of an electronic voting website; the provision of a Lo-call information line; a mail shot to every household; and a nationwide roadshow that will allow voters to see and practice on the voting machine. The campaign will also seek to raise awareness of the elections and to encourage people to vote.
