109 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position in relation to live cattle exports. [5038/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraIt is my policy and that of the Government to ensure that Irish livestock or beef exporters have unrestricted access to EU and world markets. In 2003, Ireland exported 221,000 animals of which 146,100 were exported to the EU and 36,922 to Lebanon. Currently the main markets for live cattle are Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Portugal and Lebanon and I believe the trade is operating satisfactorily.
