27 Mr. J. O’Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if a study has been undertaken of the difficulties experienced by teachers from damage to their vocal chords; and if a training programme is in place to obviate or minimise such ill effects. [5105/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department has not undertaken a study of the difficulties, which may be experienced by teachers due to damage to their vocal chords. There is no information available to indicate how prevalent any such problems may be among the teaching profession in Ireland. The issue does not appear to have arisen heretofore in the context of general training needs although general principles of voice production are addressed in the teaching of music and drama.
