273 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the over subscription for the Convent Secondary School in Longford; the way in which he intends to ensure that the students, approximately 20 in number, who cannot get a place in the Convent Secondary School are provided with a second level place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraEnrolment policy is the responsibility of the boards of management of individual post-primary schools. My Department's main responsibility is to ensure that schools in an area can between them cater for all pupils seeking places in that area. This may result in some pupils not obtaining a place in the school of their first choice. There are three post-primary schools serving the Longford town catchment area and my Department is satisfied that there are sufficient places available in these schools to cater for all pupils in the area.
