204 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will give the best advice to a person (details supplied) who is completely dissatisfied with a recent job on her driveway, the construction of a wall and the role of the Office of Consumer Affairs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The matters complained of appear to fall primarily within the ambit of the contractual relationship between the parties concerned. The complainant may wish to take legal advice on the options available which may, depending on the amounts involved, include the small claims procedure in the District Court. The provisions of the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980 relating to implied terms in contracts may also be relevant.

While the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs does provide general guidance to consumers concerning their statutory rights, it does not become involved in individual disputes between consumers and service providers.
