169 Mr. J. Brady asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the volume of applications for new forestry plantings; the volume approved to date; if he has satisfied himself that the target of 10,000 to 12,000 hectares will be achieved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7970/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraTo date, applications for planting approval have been received in respect of some 17,000 hectares in the current planting season. Approvals have issued for the bulk of these, with the remaining applications at various stages of processing. I am confident that planting levels of at least 10,000 hectares can be achieved in 2004.
