96 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the position regarding the payment of outstanding claims to the former workers of a company (details supplied); if the State’s responsibility to the workers has been fully discharged; and if she will make a statement on the matter. After the company became insolvent on1 June 2001, my Department, which has responsibility for the statutory redundancy payments scheme and the insolvency payments scheme, paid 356 employees their correct statutory redundancy lump sum entitlements from the social insurance fund. A total amount of €2,136,588.53 was paid out. There are no outstanding claims.

In addition, a total of €1,696,068.75 was paid from the social insurance fund to 455 employees for arrears of wages, holiday pay, minimum notice and pension contributions under the insolvency payments scheme. Again, there are no outstanding claims.
