355 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will refer the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 to the Northern Area Health Board for its investigation; the reasons the Mater Hospital has not responded to the repeated pleas of this person’s general practitioner to fully deal with this person’s needs; if he will now arrange for this person to have a hip replacement, if this cannot be catered for in the Mater Hospital, if he will make arrangements with St. Mary’s Hospital, Cappagh or another hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in counties Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to her directly.
