359 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason an appointment for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 took several years to be scheduled and has been cancelled on two occasions; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the person alleges they were waiting eight years for this operation; if steps will be taken to ensure that another appointment is scheduled as soon as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in counties Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to her directly.
