Wednesday, 7 July 2004

Ceisteanna (133)

Ciarán Cuffe

Ceist:

115 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Transport his views on whether the increase in the Dublin Bus fleet of 36 buses in 2004 will be sufficient to cater for the higher service requirements that can be expected on the new quality bus corridors being designed by the quality bus network office. Dublin Bus has indicated to me that it proposes to acquire 36 new buses this year. My Department is also in discussion with the company to look at the opportunity for redeploying its existing fleet to take advantage of improved efficiencies that quality bus corridors introduce. There may also be some scope for redeployment of buses arising from the commencement of Luas services on the Sandyford and Tallaght lines.
