Ceisteanna (166)

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

167 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children if she will update her plans for the future development of Peamount Hospital, County Dublin with particular reference to the need to provide senior consultancy posts in respect of tuberculosis or respiratory illness for the future; if she can indicate the way in which such patients are to be provided for in the future in view of the reluctance of other general hospitals to accept patients in this category, particularly those with rare diseases requiring isolation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Services at Peamount Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to examine the issues raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
