The Innishannon, Ballinadee-Ballinspittle-Garretstown, water supply scheme has been approved for funding in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-06 under the rural towns and villages initiative, at an estimated cost of €6.4 million.

A revised supplementary report to the preliminary report and supporting documentation relating to the scheme was received by my Department from Cork County Council on 20 September 2004 and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Tom Hayes

Ceist:

454 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government when a new sewerage scheme will be provided for the village of Golden in County Tipperary. [23492/04]

I understand that this scheme is being advanced by South Tipperary County Council under the rural water programme. Responsibility for the administration of this programme was devolved to the local authorities in 1997. Under the devolved arrangements, the prioritisation and approval of schemes for construction is a matter for each local authority, subject to overall block grant allocation from my Department. Information on the current status of the scheme may appropriately be sought from the county council.
