The Castledermot sewerage scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-06 under the rural towns and villages initiative, at an estimated cost of €7.6 million.

Work on the archaeological investigation contract, which is estimated to cost €1.4 million, commenced on 8 June this year. I understand that the contract period is six months and that work is on schedule.

Kildare County Council is at present preparing the report on tenders for work on the collection system. Once submitted to my Department for technical examination and approval the report will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
