343 Mr. O’Shea asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the proposals he has to dredge the harbour at Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25191/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn March 2002, Dungarvan Town Council submitted an application under the marine tourism grant scheme of the national development plan for funding towards a feasibility study for dredging and reclamation works. However, the grant scheme was suspended in December 2002 due to lack of funding and each of the applicants was so notified. No funding was available for the grant scheme in 2003 or in 2004. In light of the findings of the mid-term review of the regional operational programmes completed by the ESRI, which recommended reallocation of funds to other priorities, it is unlikely that the scheme will be reactivated within the term of the national development plan.
