198 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will introduce measures to provide for the proper identification of persons voting in elections and to streamline the electoral register; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27644/04]

I am concerned to ensure that the legislative and administrative arrangements in place in relation to the accuracy of the register of electors and the accessibility of voting arrangements are as flexible as possible while maintaining the security and integrity of the electoral process. I will continue to keep current practice, including the scope for further improvements, under review.
