Michael Lowry

Ceist:

144 Mr. Lowry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the progress to date on the proposed health centre for Borrisokane, County Tipperary; the funds which have been committed to the project to date; if the necessary resources will be provided to construct the facility; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The provision of health centres to meet the needs of local communities and the prioritising of such centres within its functional area is a matter for the relevant health board or the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. In the case of Borrisokane, County Tipperary, this responsibility rests with the Mid-Western Health Board.

My Department is aware of a proposal for a health centre in Borrisokane. However, the Mid-Western Health Board has not afforded a high enough priority for this proposal to be considered in the current year and no funding has been committed for this project to date.
