174 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if any prisoners other than long-term prisoners will be held in the new prison complex planned for north County Dublin; and if so, the other categories of prisoners that will be held there. [7440/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraAt present, Mountjoy Prison operates as the largest committal prison for sentenced prisoners in the State. In this regard it caters for persons serving sentences ranging from a few days right through the spectrum to include those sentenced to life imprisonment. It is anticipated that the new complex will also cater for a wide range of offenders. However, no final decision has yet been made as to the range of prisoners to be accommodated at the new complex.
