386 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason the Health and Safety Authority refused to investigate a fatal road traffic accident which took place on the Culdaff Road, County Donegal, on 12 June 2001 and which resulted in the death of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI express my sincere sympathies to the victim's family on their tragic loss. The remit of the Health and Safety Authority is confined to the investigation of occupational accidents. I understand that this matter was reported to the Health and Safety Authority on 3 June last. The authority contacted the Garda superintendent's office in Buncrana about it and it was confirmed to the authority that this was a traffic accident which had been fully investigated.
