386 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason the Health and Safety Authority refused to investigate a fatal road traffic accident which took place on the Culdaff Road, County Donegal, on 12 June 2001 and which resulted in the death of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. I express my sincere sympathies to the victim's family on their tragic loss. The remit of the Health and Safety Authority is confined to the investigation of occupational accidents. I understand that this matter was reported to the Health and Safety Authority on 3 June last. The authority contacted the Garda superintendent's office in Buncrana about it and it was confirmed to the authority that this was a traffic accident which had been fully investigated.
