130 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Transport his plans to introduce tachographs on agricultural vehicles and dump trucks; if facilities are available here to install such equipment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28496/05]
Amharc ar fhreagraEuropean Council Regulation (EEC) No 3821/95, as amended by Council regulation (EC) No 2135/98, provides for the installation and use of recording equipment or tachographs in vehicles which are used for the carriage of passengers or goods by road. Agricultural tractors and dump trucks are not designed to be used for the carriage of goods on public roads and, therefore, do not come within the scope of the Council regulations.
