108 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Transport the number of capital projects within his Department which in 2004 and in 2005 had an estimated cost of between €30 million and €50 million, and which would have been subject to cost-benefit analysis if the newly announced criteria for such evaluations had then been in force; and the total cost of such projects in each year. Amharc ar fhreagraThe planning, design and implementation of transport infrastructure improvement projects, including the carrying out of cost-benefit analysis, CBA, is a matter for the implementing agencies and, in the case of national roads, the local authorities concerned as part of the appraisal process applicable to capital projects.
As all major transport projects, including those costing less than €30 million, are subject to CBA the issue raised by the Deputy concerning projects costing between €30 million and €50 million not being subject to CBA in 2004 and 2005 does not arise.
