1043 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his views on the case being made by the National Retained Firefighters Association for a national standard uniform for such firefighters; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15181/07]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department accepted recommendations made by the Fire Services Council some 10 years ago in relation to the design and specification of uniforms for fire services personnel and these were forwarded to the fire authorities for consideration in regard to the purchasing and replacement of uniforms, where appropriate. However, provision of uniforms remains a matter for individual fire authorities.
