144 Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Transport his views on the latest information received by his Department from the Road Safety Authority indicating the number of people currently on the driver testing waiting list; if this is in line with his Department’s projections for 1 July 2008; the number of people who hold the new learner driver permits; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for driver testing and licensing was transferred to the Road Safety Authority (RSA) under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006 (Conferral of Functions) Order 2006. The arrangements in relation to testing, numbers of candidates and licences are therefore a matter for the RSA.
