517 Deputy Michael McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding an application for Irish citizenship through naturalisation of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [19400/08]
Amharc ar fhreagraAn application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to in the Deputy's Question was received in the Citizenship section of my Department in August 2005. On examination of this application it was determined that the person concerned did not satisfy the residency requirements as set out in the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956, as amended. A letter informing him of this was issued on 8 September 2005. A further application was received in August 2007. Officials in the Citizenship section inform me that processing of the application has commenced and the file will be forwarded to me for a decision in the coming months. I will inform the Deputy and the person in question when I have reached a decision on the matter.
