78 Deputy Ciarán Lynch asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the number of farmers awaiting inspection and payment under the farm waste management scheme; when inspections will be concluded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20172/09]
Amharc ar fhreagraOn 1 January 2009, 17,397 payment claims remained to be processed to payment stage under the Farm Waste Management Scheme. To date in 2009, 9,386 payments totalling almost €130 million have been made to farmers under the Scheme. Processing of the remaining claims continues and payment of the first instalment of 40 per cent will be made by my Department in respect of these claims as soon as they are approved.
It is hoped that all approved claims will have been paid their first instalment of grant-aid by my Department by end-June 2009.
