Ceisteanna (107)

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

106 Deputy Charlie O’Connor asked the Minister for Finance the way a public service pension will be calculated for a person who has approximately seven to eight years service prior to 1995 and approximately 11 years service from 1997; the approximate amount of public service pension payable at today’s pro rata rate; the age that the preserved pension will be available in view of the fact this person had service prior to 1 April 2004 which normally allows retirement at any age between 60 years and 65 years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is not possible to provide the information requested by the Deputy without having the details of the public servant's superannuation scheme and employment terms. It would then be a matter for the Minister responsible for the relevant body to consider. The Deputy might note that the employee is entitled under the Disclosure Regulations under the Pensions Act to receive the information on request from the employer.
