756 Deputy Jim O’Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason the design team to initiate the architectural planning of the extension to a college (details supplied) in County Cork has not been appointed in view of the fact that many commitments have been given in this regard over the years; and if he will now confirm that there will be no further delay. Due to industrial action on the part of some staff in the Department of Education and Science, I am not in a position to give full details of the project for the school referred to by the Deputies. The progression of all large scale building projects, including the project for the school in question, from initial design stage through to construction will be considered in the context of the school building and modernisation programme. However, in view of the level of demand on the Department's capital budget, it is not possible to give an indicative timeframe for the progression of the project at this time.
