147 Deputy Alan Shatter asked the Minister for Justice and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 148 of 17 November 2010 when the information he requested to be furnished by the Central Statistics Office to this Deputy will be received; and if he will contact the Central Statistics Office regarding this matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Central Statistics Office, as the national statistical agency, is responsible for the compilation and publication of crime statistics.
I am informed by the Central Statistics Office that, in response to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 147 and 148 of 17 November, it provided to the Deputy on 7 December statistics in respect of 2007 and 2008 on the numbers of recorded prison offences which led to criminal proceedings and convictions. As was explained to the Deputy, statistics in respect of 2009 and 2010 are not available. I am also informed that more detailed statistics than those provided are not available.
