88 Deputy Liz McManus asked the Minister for Transport the funding allocated for cycling routes here; the amount of money which was not spent; the reasons for same; the allocation for 2010; his plans to ensure that the allocation is spent in full; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department has allocated funding of some €22.5m projects relating to cycle routes, some of which are development projects relating for example to scoping studies. Expenditure in 2010 was €5.9 million compared with the €13.5 m originally estimated. The underspend was due to unavoidable delays on a number of major routes, and financial provision for such projects has been carried forward into this year.
