27 Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the reason for the delays in dealing with applications from local authorities for funding in respect of housing schemes which are ready to go to construction stage. [13084/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn October 2011, my Department wrote to local authorities seeking specific proposals for new projects to be advanced in 2012 and the following two years. Given the constraints on the public capital programme, authorities were asked to have particular regard to the size and value of proposed projects. My Department is currently reviewing the proposals received with a view to compiling a three-year capital investment programme which will take account of housing need in the relevant area, capacity to deliver the project within a reasonable timeframe and the ability to leverage additional housing supply through a combination of capital and leasing finance. I intend to announce details of the three-year programme of new works later this year.
