The Central Statistics Office publishes employment statistics in its Quarterly National Household Survey, the most recent of which was in respect of Quarter 4, 2011. The following table shows these figures and those for the 4th Quarters of the previous three years. Following a dip in 2009 and 2010 employment in the sector has, during the course of 2011, returned to previous levels. On the basis of the most recent data it provides employment for more than 3% of the population. CSO figures may be subject to revision for various reasons.
