218 Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Health the amount of money that has been provided to the fair deal scheme at present; if he will outline in comprehensive detail the amount of money that was for the fair deal when same was first introduced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe total budget for long-term residential care in 2012, and for each year since the Nursing Homes Support Scheme commenced, is set out in the table below. This is effectively the budget for the Nursing Homes Support Scheme albeit that transitional arrangements must also be facilitated from within the budget, i.e. people in contract beds, people who choose to remain on subvention and saver cases in public nursing homes.
