553 Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the position regarding a felling licence application in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21502/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department received the application for a general felling licence on the 14 October 2011 and it was referred to the Forest Service inspector for consideration. Following receipt of the forestry inspector's report it was necessary to refer the application to the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) for environmental reasons. The proposed felling area is located within 3 km upstream of a designated site. The application was referred to the NPWS on the 12 April 2012 and the NPWS has two months to respond to the Felling Section of my Department. When this response is received my Department will be able to progress the matter further.
