128 Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government when he will be in a position to ratify the Aarhus Convention; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23220/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraPrior to ratification of the Aarhus Convention, it has been necessary to ensure that Ireland has implemented its provisions in national law, a task which has been ongoing for some time. The Attorney General has confirmed that all provisions are in place and the necessary administrative work is now underway to ratify the Convention. Ratification of the Aarhus Convention is a high priority and my Department is working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with a view to finalising this process as soon as possible.
