324 Deputy Terence Flanagan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the number and description of any regulatory impact assessments that have been undertaken by his Department on legislation or proposed legislation since 9 March 2011; the stage in the legislative / policy development process at which the RIAs have been carried out; the number of RIAs that have been published by his Department over the same period; the manner of publication involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since my Department was established in June 2011, one technical Bill, the Irish Film Board Bill 2011, which did not require a Regulatory Impact Assessment, has been enacted. My Department is currently bringing forward the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission (Amendment) Bill 2011, which provides for the consolidation of the State's translation services. As this is also a technical Bill, involving a straightforward transfer of functions, I understand that no Regulatory Impact Assessment is required. In respect of the Gaeltacht Bill 2011, which is currently being drafted, work had commenced in my Department on a Regulatory Impact Assessment. However, following a decision by Government in May 2011 to retain the existing status quo in relation to Údarás na Gaeltachta, it was considered that a Regulatory Impact Assessment was no longer required.
