128 Deputy Gerry Adams asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade his plans for implementing the national action plan on UNSCR1325, 2011-2014 since its launch in November last year, and which unit within his Department is leading the process of implementation. [25347/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraIreland's National Action Plan in relation to UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security was officially launched in November 2011. The Plan sets out how Ireland will promote and implement the objectives of UNSCR 1325 in its programme support activities, diplomatic advocacy and policy-making across the interrelated areas of peace, security and development. Implementation of the Plan remains an important priority for my Department. A meeting has been arranged between my officials and key stakeholders from civil society to discuss how best to take the NAP forward. One of the items for discussion will be the formation of a monitoring group under an independent chair which will oversee implementation. I look forward to productive discussions and cooperation in that format.
Work on the implementation of Ireland's National Action Plan on UNSCR 1325 is carried out by the Political Division of my Department, in close cooperation with the Development Cooperation Division.
