124 Deputy Colm Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if talks are or were under way with a company (details supplied) for the proposed provision of a private litter warden service for the functional areas of Galway County Council, Limerick County Council, Mayo County Council and Roscommon County Council; if the relevant trade unions were informed and invited to these talks; the stage of the privatisation process talks; if the above local authorities are in any other talks with other companies with regard to the privatisation of other services without the knowledge of the relevant trade unions contrary to the Croke Park agreement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 125 Deputy Colm Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he will forward all details in relation to the numbers of third parties, contractors and sub-contractors employed and hired by Roscommon County Council; the number of jobs started by same persons for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011; if he will provide all details for the above years, for the number of times that the relevant trade unions were informed of these contractors and works being started; if Roscommon County Council will confirm that all of the above persons employed by Roscommon County Council during that time and up to the present are fully compliant in relation to tax, health and safety and all other relevant legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 124 and 125 together.

Under section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001, each City and County Manager is responsible for staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authorities for which he or she is responsible. Accordingly, the details sought in the questions are not available in my Department.
