The Sports Capital Programme is the Government's primary vehicle for supporting the development of sports facilities and the purchase of sports equipment. The goal of the Programme is to increase participation in sport and to improve standards of performance by assisting in the development of sports facilities at national, regional and local level, thereby contributing to healthier lifestyles and an improved overall quality of life.
Applications received under the SCP programme are assessed on an individual basis by the Department in accordance with a detailed set of assessment criteria. These include such criteria as impact on participation, financial viability of the project and its technical merits. Special priority is also given to projects in designated disadvantaged areas. These projects are permitted to have lower levels of own funding and are given extra marks at assessment. Details of all allocations made under the Programme are available on the Department's websitewww.dttas.ie.
