281 Deputy Eoghan Murphy asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the timeframe in which he intends to restore the Freedom of Information Act as committed to in the programme for Government. [28266/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraSignificant work has been undertaken by my Department to examine and assess the key next steps and priorities relating to the implementation of the commitments on Freedom of Information (FOI) in the Programme for Government. My Department is currently considering the responses it has received from other government departments in respect of proposals relating to the substantive restrictions introduced in 2003 and to further extend FOI. It is planned to bring proposals to Government in the coming weeks to secure approval to draft amending FOI legislation.
