175 Deputy Patrick Nulty asked the Minister for Justice and Equality in relation to residency status, is it obligatory for applicants to obtain private health insurance to qualify; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28639/12]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe condition for foreign nationals to have private health insurance only applies to certain categories of residence permission and is in place to ensure that no additional undue burdens are placed on the public funded health service. These categories include for example, students, investors, entrepreneurs, religious and lay volunteers. It is not a general condition for residency status.
