Ceisteanna (411)

Michael Healy-Rae

Ceist:

499 Deputy Michael Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Justice and Equality with regard to the Garda Station in Lauragh, County Kerry if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is a lease on this property which states that if it ever ceased to be a Garda station it would revert to the Landsdowne Estate; if he will commit to keeping this station open because not doing so would literally be giving away this valuable property out of the hands of the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed by the Commissioners of Public Works that they hold the lease of Lauragh Garda Station. If the premises ever ceases to be used as a Garda Station, it would be a matter for the Office of Public Works to decide on its future use.
