Ceisteanna (30)

Catherine Murphy

Ceist:

29 Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will provide a full and detailed list itemising all properties which have reverted to State ownership, in the past five full calendar years and to date in 2012, as a result of the owners of such properties being adjudicated as bankrupt; the total value of each such property at the time of assumption of ownership by the State; the total cost to the State, in each case, arising from continued ownership of said properties to date; the total revenue generated to the State by the sale of any such properties in the same time periods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Justice and Equality has advised that an adjudication in bankruptcy is a judicial decision of the High Court. Once a person is adjudicated bankrupt, the law provides that their property is vested in a Court appointed assignee; no Minister has a role in this process. Consequently, questions relating to possible collation and publication of statistics on the lines referred to in the Deputy's question are not ones that I can answer.
