Deputy Mick Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government when Irish Water is set up, which body or person will take responsibility for outstanding European Court of Justice cases in the field of environmental water quality; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for European Court of Justice cases lies with the State and specifically, in relation to water quality matters, with the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government. This will continue to be the case after the establishment of Irish Water.
