Preliminary work is underway in my Department on the preparation of a Criminal Justice (Victims Rights) Bill. The Bill will strengthen the rights of victims of crime and their families and it will transpose the recently adopted EU Directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when the Bill will be published.
