400. Deputy Pat Deering asked the Minister for Defence the reason a person (details supplied) in the Defence Forces was not selected for a Kosovo appointment even though they were number one on the list with all fitness and medical tests passed. [11029/13]
Amharc ar fhreagraI have been advised by the military authorities that it is a requirement for enlisted personnel to have passed their fitness test prior to being nominated for Overseas appointments by their unit. In the case referred to by the Deputy, I am advised that the individual had not passed his fitness test prior to the closing date for nominations for the overseas appointment he was seeking and as such his application could not be considered. I have been further advised that the individual concerned has not made an appeal through recognised military channels.
