I recently announced details of the 2013 Scheme for the Allocation of Milk Quota to New Entrants to Dairying. This scheme had a closing date of 7 June 2013. All applications received by the deadline are currently being processed by my Department to ensure compliance with the eligibility criteria as set out in the Detailed Rules of the Scheme. Applications that satisfy the eligibility criteria will be presented to an independent panel for assessment. Given the limited amount of quota available, the panel will conduct its assessment of all applications in an objective manner and, following a thorough examination of the information presented, the panel will recommend a list of applicants who best demonstrate evidence of a viable and sustainable enterprise. I expect to be in a position to announce the results of the Scheme in late August 2013.
