Ceisteanna (635)

Bernard Durkan

Ceist:

635. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Health the extent to which central procurement in terms of medicine, drugs or services in the health sector is organised in order to give maximum benefit and efficiency to the taxpayer when possible and that local indigenous providers have ample opportunity to compete for the provision of all such goods and services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. All Government Departments and Agencies funded by the Exchequer must comply with EU Directives and national guidelines on procurement.

Procurement of medicine, drugs or services in the health care sector which supports the delivery of health care is a service matter. Therefore your question has been referred to the HSE for direct reply.
