99. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection the progress to date in respect of appeal for disability allowance in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11227/14]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that there is no record of any disability allowance appeal having been received in that office from the person concerned. However, I understand that the person concerned did appeal the disallowance of his application for invalidity pension and that his appeal has been examined by an Appeals Officer, who decided to disallow the appeal on a summary basis, having fully considered all of the available evidence. The person concerned has been notified of the Appeals Officer’s decision.
The Social Welfare Appeals Office functions independently of the Minister for Social Protection and of the Department and is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements.
